Join us for the 2017 Parade
The Grimsby Santa Claus parade is a great community event that is only possible through the participation and enthusiasm of community organizations.
It is free to enter into the parade for community groups and non profit groups, and just $50.00-$100.00 for business entries. These fees go towards our parade costs which include Police Services, Marching Bands and other operational costs.
Each year the parade has a different theme so that groups are continually challenged to be creative and 'festive'.
There are 5 categories for judging each year.
- Best business / commercial
- Best school or church
- Best non-profit
- Best Walking Group
- Biggest Crowd Pleaser Award
Awards for the winning entries are presented at Town Council in December. Judges are looking for appearance, originality, keeping to the theme and enthusiasm of participants.
Judging is completed by selected citizens. If you are interested in joining of judge team please let us know through our contact us page.
The Parade Committee works with several bands each year through performance agreements. The number of bands in the parade depends largely on sponsorship and funding available. If you are interested in performing in our parade please send us information about your band through the Contact Us page. Only bands that have a current year performance agreement with the parae will be paid for performances.
If you are a band interested in participating in the parade and do not require payment then please complete an entry form and submit that way.
MAKING YOUR PARADE ENTRY GREAT!
Thousands of people will see your parade entry, so we know that you want it to look great, and be a great experience for your organization. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:
* LIGHTS - because it is a night time parade, the more lights, the better.
*GO BIG - spectators won't see the tiny details, they see the big overall impression as you pass by - so try to make your visuals big and easy to see.
*INTERACTIVE - have fun with the crowd - smile, wave, shake hands, high five, dance with them.
*WIND AND WEATHER - to ensure that your entry is safe, be sure to consider wind and weather. Make sure that everything is tied down very well.
*Make sure you have reviewed our parade rules (back side of entry sheet). We want to make sure that we have a fun and safe parade for everyone.
